Review of Dear Sir ~ High Bias 11/30/06
Pas/Cal labors in the margins of the psychedelic pop business, but that doesn’t mean the band isn’t worth any attention paid. Dear Sir is but a taste of Casimer Pascal’s talents, blending elements lifted from Brian Wilson, Love, Belle & Sebastian and the Elephant 6 collective into his own distinctive, heady brew in a mere five songs. One could argue that “C.A.V. (Sans Muscle)” and “The Lot We Came Home With” revel perhaps a bit too giddily in their own cleverness. But if you’re able to resist shimmering melodic gems like “Wake Up Wake Up Wake Up” and “Little Red Radio,” you need to give your soul a quick rubdown. Michael Toland
